I just received word that LAUSD Committee member, Jack Moscowitz has passed away, unexpectedly. He will be sorely missed by everyone. I've included this video from an LAUSD oversight committee, it shows the beginning of a meeting (Jack introduces himself about 30 seconds in) that Jack chaired - demonstrating his humor, compassion and intellect.
